Robinson and Strickland said they'd be out with petitions this weekend. Unlike most signature gathering, most people who pass are avidly interested in the topic.

"What are you doing?" Star Ludin asked Robinson on Thursday when he was momentarily distracted from his petition patter.

"Recalling the governor," he said.

"Woo hoo!" the Camarillo marketing company owner chirped. "I definitely believe he doesn't have the best interest of California. He has his own interests."

As she signed, Robinson shouted out "Recall Davis?" to the next person leaving the building. The man slowed his walk, but didn't stop.

"He tripled your car taxes," Robinson said. "It'll hurt you!"

Ian Brown, an Agoura Hills account executive, sighed, stopped and signed.

Robinson refocused: "Recall Davis?"
